During the early discoveries of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, it was commonly believed that only men could have ADHD. This means that there are entire generations of women who had undiagnosed ADHD and never received the help they needed. Of course, women can experience symptoms just as much if not more than men in some aspects.
So, what does it mean to be a woman with ADHD? Out of the three types of ADHD, Inattentive, Hyperactive, and Combined, women tend to have inattentive types more. That is if they are diagnosed. Most women who do have ADHD are not unfortunately diagnosed.
Symptoms
Women who have ADHD for the most part experience the same as men. Women who ADHD tend to experience more eating disorders, depression, obesity, and anxiety.
