Top 5 Tattoo Ideas for People With ADHD

Writer's picture: Bry-Uan MattBry-Uan Matt

Not gonna lie, when I found out I had ADHD I was ashamed for a while. I felt like I was dumb, stupid, and quite frankly like I would not succeed as much as my peers. It wasn't until I became educated with my newfound diagnosis is when I became proud of myself and what I had to offer to the world.

Nothing says being proud of something like getting it permanently inked on your skin. I personally haven't gotten any tattoos dedicated to my ADHD but I plan on it real soon. Here are my personal favorite top ten ADHD tattoo ideas dedicated to our amazingly different brains.

1) The Dopamine Molecule

If you have done any research as far as some ADHD tattoos to get, I'm pretty sure you came across the infamous dopamine molecule tattoo. This one is special to those with ADHD because those with ADHD naturaly have a ADHD deficiency, which adds to the irony of getting a tattoo of it. Most importantly, it;s a pretty simple tattoo idea, so it won't break the bank.

2) Cloud Head Tattoo

This tattoo in particular is one that can be taken multiple ways. As it realtes to ADHD, it can represent the "brain fog" that people with ADHD often expereince. I really likes this tattoo idea because it simple but provides just enough detail for it to catch someones eye. Above all, it's mostly simple linework so this tattoo shouldnt cost that much to get done. Depending on the size you want it in and what tattoo artist you choose.

3) Your Favorite ADHD Quote

This idea is pretty flexible and dpends on the person. There are aot of very inspiring and memorable ADHD quotes that could easiy become a tattoo. This one in particular by Brett Thornhill is my favorite because it's a great comparison of what having ADHD feels like. Depending how long your desired quote is would determine how much you would pay for this kind of tattoo. Whatever quote about ADHD you feel resonates with you the most could be a great ADHD tattoo idea.

4) ADHD Symptoms List

This one is something I havent seen anyone do before, but I thought would be a great idea. A simple list of some common ADHD symptoms with a small catchy phrase before to emphasize the list.

For example:

This person is likely to be...

  • Inattentive

  • Hyper

  • Impulsive

  • F*cking Awesome

5) DSM Code for ADHD

ICD-10

This was another one that I never seen done before and. Ithought it would be a neat idea. DSM or the Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders is a handbook used by health professionals for diagnosing mental disorders. According to the the latest issue of DSM 5 the code for ADHD is "ICD-10" .

This one is probably my favorite out of the bunch because it showcases the DSM which is rarely acknwledged in pop culture. Getting a DSM code tatted would be a bit diffefent at first but has a biot of mystery to it bvewcause not everyone knows the codes for certain mental disorders unless you're a health professional. Lastly, this tattoo probably would be the cheapest of the ones I mentioned!

Takeaway

Above all, tattoos are a great way for someone to express themselves and show the world who they are. They are a small window into a person reality that we just see on someone's skin. I personbally dont have a tattoo dedicated to my ADHD yet but I plan on getting one of these SUPER soon. Getting a tattoo to show your struggles is a great badge of honor of how far you have come. I'm proud to have ADHD so I plan on getting at least one these I mentioned but tattoos just really hurt....
